Chaenomeles ‘Rouge Baiser’ is a new selection from FPB’s R&D program, launched in 2013. The goal of this program was to create a range of Chaenomeles with large double flowers, thornless branches, and abundant pot flowering. ‘Rouge Baiser’ immediately stood out thanks to its incredible bloom color: an exceptionally bright, luminous red.
This Chaenomeles features vivid semi-double red flowers with a yellow center, bringing an explosion of color to the garden. Highly floriferous, it blooms before the leaves appear and all along the stem. For everyone’s safety, this Chaenomeles is completely thornless.
When spring is mild, you can enjoy at least two flowering periods of about three weeks each. The first occurs in March, when the flowers open before the foliage, offering a decorative spectacle that heralds spring. The second bloom, in May, coincides with the presence of foliage, creating a striking contrast between the fresh green leaves and the scarlet-red blossoms.
